Description
Florence, the birthplace of perspective, will be our outdoor studio for this site drawing course. On daily field trips, students will render on site Florence’s great monuments and natural surroundings — Renaissance palaces, the Arno River and its bridges, open-air markets and gardens. Through drawing exercises aimed to stimulate and develop the senses, students will gain skill at perceiving the subject at hand in terms of form, spatial depth, and overall composition. Centralmost among the aims of the course is to have students adopt differing modes of perception, learning, thereby, to look anew, “see” in the truest sense.
