SUMMER PROGRAM 2008
June 2 - June 28
(3-6 credits)


COURSES

Students enrolled in the NECA Summer Programs can choose 2 courses, thus earning 6 credits.
Students have the option of choosing just 1 course (3 credits) at a lower cost. Students should choose an additional course as a second choice in case one of the courses might not be available.



TENTATIVE SCHEDULE
June 2, 2008 - June 28, 2008

Mon June 2:
Students enter their accommodation.
Students should know that June 2 is the Feast of the Republic, and most stores will be closed

Tue June 3:
Orientation at NECA facilities


Tue June 3:

xcursion to the hill of Piazzale Michelangelo and visit to the 1,000 year old San Miniato Church (1,018 a.C.)

Tue June 3:
Classes begin


Wed June 4:
Typical Tuscan dinner together in the historical center

Fri June 6:
Morning excursion to the hill of Fiesole and typical lunch together in the Florentine hills


Mon June 9:
One-day excursion to the Tuscan town of Pisa

Tue June 10:
Wine Tasting (optional)

Sat June 14 - Sun June 15:
Two-day excursion to Rome, the Capital of Italy

Fri June 20:
One-day excursion to the Tuscan town of Siena

Tue June 24:
Dinner together in the historical center AND evening meeting to watch the fireworks of the feast of St. John the Baptist, the patron saint of Florence

Thu June 26 - Fri June 27: Reviews and Finals

Sat June 28: Students leave their accommodation


Dates of additional excursions may be added depending on students' interest.




ITALIAN PUBLIC HOLIDAYS 2008 DURING THE PROGRAM
The facilities will be closed on the following days and on weekends (*):
-June 2 is the Feast of the Republic.
-June 24 Feast day of the Patron Saint of Florence, St. John the Baptist.

(*) There might be excursions during these days, but no classes in the NECA premises, which will be closed.
