STUDENT ELIGIBILITY and
POLICY OF NON-DISCRIMINATION
Participants do not necessarily have to come from an institution that offers a study abroad program.
Selection is based on academic achievement as well as seriousness of purpose and individual stability and maturity. Therefore the GPA (Grade Point Average) is important and it is requested on the on-line application form, but it is not the only issue taken into consideration.
To be eligible participants must have completed at least two semesters of college or the equivalent and be at least 18 years of age.
NECA does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or disability in its policies and Programs.

TRANSFER CREDIT and TRANSCRIPT
FROM DAEMEN COLLEGE, NY, USA

Upon successful completion of each course, enrolled students earn transfer academic undergraduate credits (if not through their home institution) through a transcript of Daemen College, NY, USA.
Students can visit the NECA web page on the Daemen College website:
www.daemen.edu/offices/global-programs/study-in-florence.php.
The update of this web page does not depend on NECA but only on Daemen College staff. Since students will study at NECA, not at Daemen College, please refer to the NECA brochure file that NECA will e-mail you once you enquire. Daemen College issues the transcript, all other issues depend on NECA.

The Daemen College transcript will include course titles and numbers, grades, and credit hours. This transcript will be sent directly to the student's home institution for transfer credit from the Daemen College Registrar's Office.

Before coming to Florence students should check with their home institution:
1) For the proper procedure regarding the transfer of credits.
2) If the courses that they will take at NECA fulfill their degree requirements.

NECA is available to assist students with their enrollment procedure by contacting their student advisors.

STUDENT ASSISTANCE and ORIENTATION

Before the start date of the Program, NECA will provide an Opening Reception and Orientation program so that students can get together and get acquainted with the aspects of the Program, with other students, etc. Students will also be informed on Florentine and Italian living and some information about cultural differences.

ENROLLMENT, PROGRAM COSTS, and SCHOLARSHIPS

Program Participants usually are Undergraduate, Graduate, or Continuing Education students.
TO ENROLL
applicants should send their on-line application from the web page Apply on-line. Once we receive it we will contact the applicant and applicant's university for his or her acceptance in the program.
PROGRAM COSTS
Inquire for more information at info@necaflorence.com.

TO APPLY FOR A SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants should send their on-line application and a 200-word essay (or a 200-word e-mail) stating why they would like to study in Italy and how study abroad would enrich their academic career.

SCHOLARSHIP FOR NSCS MEMBERS
Further to the agreement NSCS-NECA, scholarships will be automatically awarded to all NSCS members enrolled in a NECA program upon acceptance of their on-line application.

KATRINA RELIEF SCHOLARSHIP (KRS)
Scholarships are automatically awarded to students who come from or study in any U.S. states hit by Katrina. The scholarship will be automatically awarded upon acceptance of the student's on-line application.

NOTE: If you are eligible for both scholarships (NSCS and KRS), the exact amount of the COMBINED scholarships depend on your state (Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, etc.), your academic standing, your university, your GPA, the number of programs in which you will enroll, amongst other factors.

IMPORTANT FOR SEMESTERS ONLY: Students must have 12 (twelve) credits to be full-time status in the U.S. If a student drops below 12 credits for the semester, his or her U.S. based financial aid might be affected in coming semesters.

PAYMENT PROCEDURE, DEADLINES, REFUND POLICY, and CANCELLATIONS
NECA will e-mail all inquiring students the NECA brochure file with all the necessary information.
The student should decide if to make the down payment to secure his or her place in the program only after opening and reading the NECA brochure file containing the Terms of Payment, all Deadlines and the NECA Refund Policy.

INSURANCE
Students must be covered by a Health Insurance at their own expense. Insurance is to cover:
1) MEDICAL/HEALTH PROBLEMS;
2) EMERGENCY EVACUATION.
Note: Most U.S. based Health coverage does NOT include these.

Students must provide NECA with copies of such health insurance policies upon acceptance into the program.
The proof of insurance must include the participant's name and dates of coverage -- Start date and End date (covering the duration of the program).
Students can purchase an ISIC Card (International Student ID card), which includes insurance. You can visit www.myisic.com and/or www.wallach.com to purchase the insurance.
-You should ask for prices and what is covered.
-Make sure if there is a minimum amount of expenses, below which you would NOT be reimbursed.
-You should also ask to be provided a LETTER STATING THAT ISIC OR WALLACH INSURANCE COVER WHAT IS REQUESTED BY THE ITALIAN LAW TO GET THE VISA PLUS EMERGENCY EVACUATION (not necessary to request the visa but mandatory to be admitted to the program).
NECA is not responsible for those students who enter Italy without an insurance, or without an insurance that covers both medical/health problems and emergency evacuation.
Participants are also to provide NECA with personal information (i.e. allergies, special diet, and emergency contact numbers) once they have been accepted into the Program. NECA assures that this information will be kept strictly confidential, according to Italian privacy law
(Law #675 of 1996).
NO RESPONSIBILITY
NECA will not be responsible for damages to or loss of property, personal illness or injury, or death while a student is on the Program, including NECA and any other facilities, course-related field trips, excursions, at home stay, apartment or hotel, travelling, and the like.
