NECA Study Abroad Italy Programs

(up to 18 credits)



COURSES

Students enrolled in the NECA Semester Programs can choose up to 4-5 courses, thus earning 12-15 credits. At an additional cost it is possible to choose a 6th course for a total of 18 credits. Students should choose a second choice of courses in case one or more courses may not be available for any reason
.


TENTATIVE SCHEDULE
September 10 - December 10

Sept 10:
Students enter their accommodation

Sept 11:
Orientation at NECA facilities

Sept 12:
Classes begin

Sept 12:

Typical Tuscan dinner together (Welcome Dinner)


Sept 15:
Afternoon excursion to the hill of Piazzale Michelangelo and visit to the 1,000 year old San Miniato Church (1,018 a.C.)

Sept 16:
Excursion to the hill of Fiesole, then typical lunch together in the hills

Sept 29:
One-day excursion to the Tuscan town of Pisa
 

Oct 2:
Morning excursion to the open-air market at Cascine Park (optional)


Oct 13:
One-day excursion to the Tuscan town of Siena

Oct 15 - Oct 19 (inclusive):
Week of Midterm exams

Oct 22 - Oct 28 (inclusive):
Midterm Break (no classes)

Oct 29:
Classes resume

Nov 6:

Cooking Class with a typical Tuscan Menu

 

Nov 10:
Additional excursion (to be decided with the students)

 

Nov 17:
One-day excursion to the Tuscan town of Greve in Chianti, in the heart of the Chianti area, and typical Chianti lunch together 

Nov 22 - Nov 25 (inclusive):
Thanksgiving Holidays (no classes)

Nov 26:
Classes resume

Nov 29:
Dinner tiogether at a Greek restaurant

 

Dec 3 - Dec 7 (inclusive):
Week of Final Exams

 

Dec 7:

Farewell dinner together


Dec 10:
Students leave their accommodation



Dates of excursions may be modified due to logistical factors, transportation strikes,
etc. Additional excursions may be added depending on students' interest.
On days with no classes, the school is closed.
The school opens on September 11 and closes on December 7.




ITALIAN PUBLIC HOLIDAYS 2012 DURING THE PROGRAM
The facilities will be closed on the following days and on weekends (*):

For Midterm Break.
-F
or Thanksgiving Holidays.


(*) There might be class field trips during these days, but no classes in the NECA premises, which will be closed.
